Hal is a San Angelo native. His family has beein in this area since it was pioneeered. Hal grew up working on a ranch and is uniquely familiar with landowner issues.
Hal is married to his love, Tracey, and they have five children between them.
Hal was licensed to practice law in Texas in November, 1995. He is Board Certified in the areas of Residential Real Estate and Farm & Ranch Real Estate by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, since 2002. Hal is a certified guardian by the Texas Guardianship Certification Board. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the College of the State Bar of Texas, and the Tom Green County Bar Association.
Hal graduated from Texas Tech University School of Law in 1995. During law school, Hal was a Regents’ Scholar. He was an Associate Editor for the Texas Tech Law Review. He served on the Texas Tech Legal Research Board. He received the American Jurisprudence Award. He was on the Dean’s List. Hal attended a summer law program at Downing College, Cambridge University. He was a visiting student at the University of Texas Law School while interning for the Honorable Marilyn Aboussie, Justice, Third Court of Appeals.
Hal received a BA from the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee in 1992. At Sewanee, Hal was an English major. He belonged to the Order of Gownsmen; the Order of Silver Spoon; the Red Ribbon Society; the Wellingtons; and the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. Hal competed on the varsity swimming team throughout college. Hal also attended a semester-long European Studies Program, based at St. John’s College, Oxford University.
Hal is a 1988 graduate of San Angelo Central High School.
